Introduction
The College operates a diverse range of learning support programmes in
an attempt to address the specific needs of particular students and groups
of students.
In this section provides a brief overview of the key programmes that operate
under the auspices of the Learning Support Department.

Information on Other Programs:
The Peer Mentoring Programme
The purpose of this programme is to offer Year 7 students, identified
via ELLA, with additional assistance in regard to reading, writing and
comprehension.
Year 11 students are trained as mentors and guide the Year 7 students
through a specific programme designed to address their particular needs.

The Learning Assistance Programme
(LAP)
The Learning Assistance Programme offers individual students to work one
period per week with a community volunteer on a one-on-one basis. There
is considerable flexibility as to how the time is utilised - sometimes
it may include assistance with a particular piece of work, at other times
it may involve playing a game, going for a walk or simply having a quiet
chat.

Transition to Work Programme
The transition to work programme is co-ordinated by the Careers Advisor
and is designed to facilitate the transition of targeted students from
school into the workplace. Year 10 and Year 11 students are primarily
involved. Assistance with the development of a Curriculum Vitae and interview
skills is complemented by work placement opportunities.

Life Skills Programme
Targeted students in Years 7-12 may undertake a life skills programme
in one or more subjects as part of their School Certificate and Higher
School Certificate studies. The provision of this ammended programme can
only occur under the instructions of the CEO Transition Officer.

Numeracy Assistance Programme
This programme focuses upon providing Year 7 students with additional
assistance in mathematics. Additional after school classes are offered
and students volunteer to participate.

Examination Assistance Programme
A number of special needs, special education and other students avail
themselves of additional assistance during examinations. The additional
assistance in the form of Special Provisions may include taking the examination
in a different setting, having a reader or writer, and/or having additional
time. Year 10 and Year 12 students who have special needs (learning, medical,
physical) can apply to the Board of Studies for Special Provisions. Applications
are processed by the Learning Support Coordinator and sent to the Board
by early April.
